Theology began with the appearances of the risen Jesus. That is, theology began when persons were confronted with a presence that could only be realized by the act of God. In The Eucharistic Faith, the first of a significant new systematic theology of the Eucharist, Ralph N. McMichael weaves liturgy and theology together to understand the ways in which theology and Christian faith are, at heart, about the receiving of the gift of Jesus' life in Communion. This volume has four phases to this movement into the Eucharist and within th eEucharist. They are Theology, Seeking, Understanding and Faith. The book begins with questions of the origin and nature of theology as they are located within and as the Eucharist. Thus, it argues for and presents the origin and nature of what follows. The second phase provides normative content and shape to the Eucharistic theological landscape that was earlier surveyed. The third phase takes up three arenas, those of knowledge, language and truth, seeking to understand these aspects from within the Eucharist. The fourth phase is an imaginative account of the faith that resides there, the faith that is the movement within the place that has been theoloically prepared for us. In 280pp.
